Join us for a breakfast discussion on 22nd November (8am-9:30am) with John Doyle, senior partner in Dillon Eustace, on the topic of 'Mediation as an alternative to litigation'.
Mediation is already a well-recognised method of dispute resolution. The Courts in Ireland, including the Commercial Court, have long since been warning litigants of the damage which can be suffered by airing of disputes in the full glare of the media and have been encouraging parties to avail of the private and confidential option of mediation. This is particularly so in the case of disputes which involve relationship such as family businesses or neighbour disputes.
Mediation is something which should at least be considered in disputes of every kind. The October 2nd signing of the long-awaited Mediation Act 2017 is expected to see further growth in the use of mediation as a means of dispute resolution.
John Doyle is a senior partner in Dillon Eustace and an accredited mediator with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution ("CEDR") having received my accreditation in January 2003. He is a member of, and former Honorary Secretary of the Irish Commercial Mediation Association. He has represented parties in many mediations and acted as a Mediator in commercial disputes where the parties have been represented by other solicitors.
This event is open to senior management from our Business and Corporate members.
