Innovation Hub Can Provide New Heartbeat for Dun Laoghaire

Nov 02, 2017

Transforming Dun Laoghaire's ferry terminal into a business hub can help breathe new life into the town, according to business group Dublin Chamber.

The Chamber, the representative body for businesses throughout the Greater Dublin Region, welcomed the plan, which will see the creation of a new 75,000 square foot 'Harbour Innovation Campus'.

According to Dublin Chamber CEO Mary Rose Burke: "The addition of more space for startups and small businesses is fantastic news for the Dublin region. More and more companies are springing up every day in the region. It is important that we are able to support this activity and allow our young companies to thrive and prosper. Hubs such as Dogpatch Labs and The Digital Hub have proved hugely successful already in Dublin. The new hub planned for Dun Laoghaire will add greatly to the Dublin region's innovation offering and has the potential to provide a new heartbeat for the town."

Dublin Chamber welcomed the decision to repurpose the ferry terminal to meet the needs of a new generation.

Ms Burke said: "It is always fantastic to see existing structures being adapted and redesigned to meet modern demands. The terminal is a two-minute walk from the Dart station and also the heart of Dun Laoghaire town centre. We look forward to this project being brought to life over the coming years and to helping nurture the next generation of successful Irish companies."
