BRIAN KERR
Dublin born Brian Kerr began his managerial career at age fifteen with Crumlin Utd’s U-13s. In 1983 Kerr took on the role as assistant to Liam Tuohy who was manager of the National Youth Team before moving to St Patrick’s Athletic in December 1986. Kerr became Manager at a time when St Pat’s had not had success at league levels since the early ‘50’s. Kerr built St Pat's into the country's most successful club winning the Premier Division title in 1990 and again in 1996. Kerr returned to the Irish Youth Team as Manager in 1996 and had unprecedented success, winning both the U-16 and U-18 European Championships in 1998, while also guiding the U-19s to 3rd place at the 1999 World Youth Championships in Malaysia. In February 2003 Kerr took on his biggest challenge to date as Manager of the Republic of Ireland senior football team. Kerr’s first year in charge of the senior side saw Ireland regain their shattered confidence as they narrowly failed to qualify for the European Championships as they went on a nine-game unbeaten run before losing to Switzerland. The Republic of Ireland, currently ranked 16 in the FIFA/Coca Cola World Rankings remain unbeaten in competitive and friendly games since June 2004 and stand in a very good position in their qualification group for the world cup finals.
